Hello and Welcome to The Little Skool-House where learning is achieved through a discovery process that is fun and enduring. And where each day is a day to look forward to both for our children and our teachers as they experience learning together.

Through the literature-based learning we pioneered, our children acquire knowledge, values and life skills that will help them as they take their place in the world in the future.

Set-up

The Little Skool-House International Pte Ltd welcomed its first students in 1994. Today, it owns and operates an extensive network of centres in prime locations such as country clubs, banks, private housing estates and shopping malls.

We recognise that every child is a potential leader. So we aim to develop each child to his full potential and help him develop the attitude and skills to be independent thinkers and effective communicators.

Our role is to nurture and enhance what nature has endowed. We are committed to developing each child's physical, emotional, cognitive and social skills and build a strong foundation for their future education and life-long learning journey.

We aim to make each child more than school ready. Our goal is to prepare them to be life-ready.

Our People

At The Little Skool-House, we have a team of dedicated and qualified professionals who love children and believe that there is a leader in every young individual who comes through our doors waiting to be discovered and nurtured to his full potential.

Making the difference to the quality of our programme and the management of our centres are our Education Development Team and our Operations Team.

Education Development Team

Recognising the need to embrace change and move with the times, our Education Development Team introduces innovative practices and train our teachers in the use of new learning and teaching tools to engage young minds. The key team members are:

Dr ENG Wah Yound, Melinda (EdD, MM, Med)

Curriculum Advisor

Melinda brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in early childhood education and related fields having been involved in the training of pre-school teachers since 1989.

Her impeccable credentials include a Master of Music from Northern Illinois University, USA, a Master of Education from Nanyang Technological University, National Institute of Education, Singapore, and a Doctorate in Education from Monash University, Victoria, Australia.

A former Inspector at the Pre-school and Special Education Branch of the Ministry of Education, she was actively involved in instituting the Ministry's best practices for kindergartens. From 2000 to 2002, she also spearheaded the Ministry's Pre-school Pilot Project curriculum materials development and research.

Before her appointment as Senior Advisor, Curriculum, for NTUC First Campus, Melinda was the General Manager of The Little Skool-House International. Prior to that, she was the Assistant Director, Research and Consultancy, at the SEED Institute (then known as the Regional Training and Resource Centre in Asia/RTRC Asia). Currently, she also serves as an adjunct lecturer at the Institute.

Coreen SOH (BSc, M.Sc (Early Childhood Education)

Senior Manager, Education Development

Coreen oversees the design and development of Little Skool-House's curriculum and training, and the Community Learning and Parent Support Programmes. She is able to draw on her years of experience in the early childhood learning field having held a variety of positions from teacher and principal to curriculum manager and specialist, trainer and academic manager.

Before joining The Little Skool-House, she was part of the curriculum team that designed and developed the new curriculum now used in the 40 NTUC Childcare centres.

Coreen holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, and a Master of Science (Early Childhood Education) degree from Wheelock College, USA.

Geraldine TEO (BSc, M.Sc (Early Childhood Education)

Manager, Education Development

Geraldine has a way with young children. Having facilitated many projects with young children in the course of her work at The Little Skool-House International, she shared one of the projects at Singapore's Annual Childcare Seminar organised by The Ministry of Community Development Youth and Sports.

With her experience as a teacher and supervisor of pre-school centres in Singapore, Geraldine assists in curriculum planning and teachers training with The Little Skool-House International. She also assists in the training of in-service teachers at RTRC Asia.

Geraldine holds a Masters of Science in Early Childhood Education with Wheelock College, USA in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from University of Bradford, UK.

Operations Team

At The Little Skool-House, special attention is given to the maintenance of a high standard of safety, health, hygiene and operational procedures at each centre. Overseeing this important function are our two Senior Manager of Operations:

Shirley WONG Yin Pheng (DPET, DPEL, Adv CPMA)

Senior Manager, Operations

Known for her enthusiasm in her work and ability to lead and communicate effectively, Shirley has contributed much to the high standards in the early childcare field. With more than 20 years of professional experience in teaching as well as in operations, she has always gone the extra mile to help those in need by sharing information, creative ideas and resources.

Shirley holds an advanced certificate in Pre-School Management and Administration from Nanyang Technology University and National Institute of Education Singapore. She also holds a Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (Teaching and Leadership) from Wheelock College, USA.

She is currently involved in the management of LSH centres, development of best practices and improving current practices, recruitment and staff development projects, and supporting the setting up of new sites.

Patricia PEREIRA (DPET, DPEL, Adv CPMA, BSc (Early Childhood Education)

Senior Manager, Operations

Known for her innovative and creative ideas and ability to motivate professional teams to continuously improve their education and care services, Patricia manages all the centres and is also involved in the setting up of new centres and ensuring that new staff members are trained in our standard operating procedures.

She is well equipped for this role as she has more than 19 years of professional experience in the early childhood learning field, having held positions from Senior Teacher, Senior Principal, to Operations Manager.

Patricia holds a degree in Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College, USA in addition to a Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (Teaching) from the same college, and an advanced certificate in Pre-School Management and Administration from Nanyang Technology University and National Institute of Education Singapore.
